What to expect as a new patient
Once we have all the information about your health, if Dr. Loy feels he can help you, you can proceed with the complimentary consultation. To make that transition easy for you, we have outlined what to expect in your first discussion with Dr. Loy.
After booking your initial consultation, which you can do by calling us at 858-436-7162, you will have an allocated time. You will then receive a confirmation email to provide you with the new patient packet, confirm the scheduled time, answer any questions you may have, and provide you with our address.
To gather all the information necessary to help you best, you will be asked to fill out our new patient packet prior to arriving at your appointment time. This form outlines your current pain points and asks questions about your health history and profile.
You have the option to complete this form in our office, however if you choose to complete the form in our office you are asked to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
Initial Consultation Process
We offer an initial consultation to first determine if we can help with your problem.
STEP 1 – You will sit down with Dr. Loy and explain your current pain point. Dr. Loy will ask you a series of questions about your past and present health history to fully understand how best to help. Our number 1 priority here is to ensure you feel heard and understood.
STEP 2 – Once we have all the information about your health, if Dr. Loy feels he can help you, you can proceed with the complimentary examination. The comprehensive examination will include a posture exam, neurological and orthopedic examination, functional movement exam, and a chiropractic examination. The chiropractor will examine your entire body, not just the area that is in pain.
STEP 3 – Once the examination is complete the chiropractor will sit down with you and explain the findings. We make sure to do this in an easy-to-understand way.
STEP 4 – First Adjustment. After the examination, if it seems that you are a candidate for chiropractic care, Dr. Loy will provide your first chiropractic adjustment. Depending on you, your preferences, body type and condition, Dr. Loy will use appropriate techniques. If you are not a candidate for chiropractic care, we will refer you to the person who can best help you.
STEP 5 – In order to get the full picture of your spinal health, you may be referred for spinal x-rays. The x-rays will be conducted off site at SimonMed Imaging. We highly recommend paying out of pocket to receive their discounted prices. However, we understand that everyone doesn’t necessarily have that ability to pay out of pocket and may need to use their insurance. When going through your insurance company, you will need to request a copy of the report AND disc containing the imaging to bring to your next appointment with us.
STEP 6 – Your next appointment, Dr. Loy will explain your condition in further detail and if you were referred for x-rays, walk you through the x-ray findings. Dr. Loy will outline treatment options, explaining costs and recovery times. There will be no hidden surprises with our care.
From here, we will work together to help you achieve your goals. Your subsequent appointments will consist of treatments only. Re-examination will be performed periodically. You will never feel rushed in your treatments. Dr. Loy will always examine your body at each visit and adjust where necessary.
